Ice Storm!

Okay, so I've already been mocked by my Iowa friends for my "blizzard" post (you know who you are:) ), but the last two days we had a good ol' oklahoma ice storm, and then 8inches of snow on top of that. But you know, ice is bad, and I feel that most of you northerners don't realize we how bad we have it down here! So I'm a dork, and I used my little rock scale to measure some ice. I'll spare you *all* the pics I took, here are some of the better ones. Each division is 1 cm, so most of the ice I measured was between 1-2 cm thick. It took about an hour this morning to get all the ice off of my car. Ridiculous! The pups don't like the ice quite as much as they like the snow. Which I'm sure has nothing to do with the fact that I haven't clipped their toenails in two months and they slide everywhere. That big dirt pile we have in the backyard, I coaxed them up there, only to watch Mitsy slide down the side of it, legs akimbo, and scrape the snow off of it with her body. Hilarious to me, not so much to the girls. Here is Lola, begging me to leave them alone and not make them do stupid things like climb up on ice piles. Also, just to further set the mood, they have been forecasting this storm for a week or so. We had plenty of time get prepared. So John and I discussed possibly getting a generator in case the power went off, since we don't have a fireplace anymore. Well, the local home despot store doubled the price of their generators! Spread the word, never shop there, because that was price gouging at its worst!! Seriously, they had generators for around $300, and that afternoon before the storm, they had doubled to over $700. Nice. So instead of buying a generator, I bought some yaktrax for my boots. It was a much cheaper investment, and vastly improved my ability to not fall on my face. They did not keep us warm as a generator might have, but we took our chances and luckily did not lose power.

This picture I thought was pretty awesome. It is a little bush/tree in our front yard (maybe an inch in diameter branches). It was windy, and the wind caused those weird rings of cracks all up and down it. The wind whipping through the ice covered trees was the weirdest creaking sound ever. It's really sad since we lost a lot of trees in the 2007 ice storm. I'm pretty sure we will not have anymore trees in Oklahoma after this winter.

I also noticed that the dogs were constantly digging at the ground, and I realized that they were eating the ice covered grass. So here I am feeding them icicles. They love them, and oh so cheap compared to their other high dollar treats!

Here's the shop. These pics are just to prove that John got the rest of the rafters up. Sorry no sheeting yet Bill, I refused to let him on the ladder in the ice.
My parents spent the week with us. JM had shots on Monday, and he always gets cranky and fevery, so my parents thank god came down to watch him! They decided to stay through the storm since our daycare was closing early on Thursday. We played *a lot* of pitch. We figured we'd start the kiddo out early on the gambling. Clakity clak, bitches!
Here's some more JM, because that is why I know you are visiting this site. Seriously, is that Damien on the left there? Does anyone want this demon child before he grows up into Satan and takes over the world? Oh wait, ducky!! Nevermind on that unholy demon spawn stuff (for now)!

Uncle Will stopped by to hang with John Milo (and to a lesser extent us)! He's moving to Phoenix...I think the high temp there was in the 70s today...nice. At least until July, and then 105 degrees in the shade...no thank you! We had a great time, despite JM's teething crankiness. Hopefully will be traveling out there a lot to see Uncle Will and go do exciting camping and hiking in beautiful northern AZ along the way!

I flung poo!

Okay, so I know that everyone probably goes through this, well, at least all moms do, but it was pretty funny. Since we just recently started giving JM solid foods, he obviously has just started with some solid poops. So I was changing him one night, maybe an hour after his dinner and there was a little poo. Okay, no biggie, so I had his diaper half off, and his little legs up in the air. I hand the diaper to John to put the poo in the toilet (we're using cloth diapers), and John starts to freak out and gag, even though he knew this is what we were getting into! So John is gagging behind me, and I'm laughing really hard with JM's little legs stuck in the air. All of a sudden I feel something wet on my hand and so I scream (yes, this is not a joke. I'm not proud of it either) and fling my hand into the air. Somehow JM had shot a solid poo out about 6 inches out. If you remember from the last sentence, I said I flung my hand. With the poo on it. Onto the floor. Where Lola was waiting patiently. So now John is gagging to the point of barfing, Lola is extremely excited because, well, poo is yummy! And I'm laughing so hard I can't handle it. John Milo is laughing too, and I spent the evening cleaning poo from the surfaces and keeping Lola out of the room. Ahhh...mommyhood!

Enjoy the unrelated pics below of Bill (John's Dad) and the new shop. The new shop is much farther along now, more pics later. Oh yeah, there's a pic of the poo-eater too :)

Christmas part two

Since we didn't make it to Iowa, Iowa came to us. Well, John's dad is down for the week to help him build his shop, but he brought all the cool christmas presents from everyone up there (thanks everyone!!!). John Milo got this cool car and lots of toys and we got tons of other stuff too. Hey, no talking on the phone while driving! Just think, he probably won't even recognize that as the shape of a phone when he is little because all we have are cell phones. Odd.

Here's some random pics of the kittehs. I bought them a crinkle bag for christmas, but it was too small for their, um, husky builds. So I had to add that black portion to make the bag bigger. I poured some nip in there too, it was a big hit!! The next picture is them fighting over the small sunbeam. Awwww....

The abyss

We saw this weird cloud thing over okc yesterday....it looks just like that creepy thing from the abyss. I know I have a degree in meteorology, but since air acts as a fluid, maybe some of my oceanographer friends know what the hell this is!!!!
